Celebrating 5 Years
Two years ago I was moved beyond tears by the plight of immigrants and refugees who were being separated from their families and put in detention centers. Feeling called to do something a group of our local artists put on the first Share the Journey concert to raise funds on behalf of the immigrant/refugee community. The concert was a success and we held our 2nd year.
This year due to the pandemic we felt it unsafe to hold a live concert in a public space, so this year's concert will be virtual and will be live-streamed. Going virtual has enabled us to expand our artist base to a national and international level. In addition to our local artists so far the following additional artists have graciously said yes to be part of Share the Journey 2020: Tony Alonso, Sarah Hart, Jesse Manibusan, Val Limar Jansen, Donna Pena, John Angotti, Peter Kolar, Petie Ronstadt, Jaime Cortez, Lynne Gray, Pedro Rubalcava, John McCutcheon, and Peter Yarrow.
Thank you so much for your generosity. I am grateful for the opportunity to share this work with you. Invitations are still going out and we're awaiting responses from others. Once we have all artists confirmed and logistics are in place I'll be posting more details. Meanwhile, we continue to pray for all detainees, many of whom are being held in overcrowded detention centers/jails with little to no access to necessary items for personal hygiene. Many of these centers have been ravaged by Covid-19.
